Peaceful Patches Farm was built on ecological principles long before it was in vogue. The transformation from family farm to Eco farm and sanctuary is underway and this website will reveal the changes as they take effect, project by project. In 1953, the farm house itself was built, in large part, from reclaimed and recycled materials out of the existing house on the property. All the bricks, nails, wood, fixtures and other useable materials were salvaged and redesigned into a completely new floor plan and rebuilt on the same site, under the shade of giant pecan trees. The old tin roof was used as siding for a pole barn. This is recycling at its best!
Here is a slide show of various portions of the farm as it exists now. The renovation, retrofitting, and preparation for the eco farm is now underway, but the existing forest, pastures, pecan orchard and buildings are the perfect canvas on which to paint new, sustainable dreams — and build foundations under them!
